Background

Training course on monitoring on educational policies

A specialized training course in monitoring, evaluation, and community accountability was held in the Jordanian capital (Amman), to achieve effective and popular control in education, organized by the Palestinian Educational Coalition, with the participation of Jordanian Educational Coalition. About 30 participants were participated from civil society organizations in Jordan and Palestine.

           The deputy of the Palestinian Educational Coalition- Nisfat Al-Khofash- said that: this training comes in the context of implementing the coalition strategy, which aimed to raise the civil society organizations awareness  in the importance of resisting corruption, and to integrate these organizations in the process of struggling it, also to enable them in the process of their  development, and to play the role of the accountant; he also welcomed the participants from the Jordanian Educational Coalition pointing out to the importance of partnership and coordination in the development of the educational process.

           The Jordanian Coalition President, Professor Khalil Abu-radwan, confirmed on the importance of participation in this training, which comes in the context of the fourth goal of 20\30 goals, and the required role to activate the civil institutions role in harmony with inclusive and equitable education.

         The trainer, Mutasem Zaied, carried on a thinking and brain storming session to the participants about types of thinking and prevailing methods of answering questions; he also talked about building control indicator on education, shadow reports, and monitoring, evaluation, and follow up roles.

        The trainer, Ahmad Abu-alhija’, presented an explanation about community accountability mechanisms, its management, and implementing its tools focusing on the importance of developing its tools, and moving from screaming to counting.

       From the Arab Campaign for Education, Sawsan Al-refaa’i, presented an explanation about the campaign goals, its relationship to the arab and international coalitions, and the campaign’s orientations towards financing education.

           The training went on for 3 continuous days; it covered courses and topics about the community accountability mechanisms and concepts; and practical exercises and trainings. 

            One of the meetings outcomes was to have basic skills in the popular control, to develop a vision about its implementation mechanism after the end of the training, in which it contributes in the development of the education quality, and achieves the fourth goal of the development goals 20\30.  

            On the session sideline a special meeting between Palestinian and Jordanian Coalition was held, joint lines were drawn up, and they agreed on to form a coordinating committee to influence and unify their attitudes, in order to raise the educational process in Jordan and Palestine in particular, and in the Arab world and International campaign in general.
